Hi!  My name is Society Sam!  I am the mascot of Society of American Miniaturists!

The Society loves things small and wants to share the joy of miniatures with others.  Let me tell you about S.A.M.....

We are based in Texas but span the country. We are a nonprofit organization committed to the education and promotion of the art and hobby of miniatures. We welcome all miniaturists, artisans and collectors. We strive to increase awareness in miniatures and promote the love of the hobby and art. 

• We meet twice a year:
1. SAM's Birthday Party is an all-day workshop held in the spring; the location rotates between Houston, Dallas/ Ft. Worth, and Austin.   The event is free to SAM members who spend the day crafting the project.  The host club(s) design the overall project; during the day many of the pieces that go into it are taught by the club's members.  We serve lunch, have raffles and gift exchanges and you leave with a TOTE BAG full of treasures to go in your project!   Browse SAM's photo album for examples!
2. Wonderful Workshop Weekend (also called WWW or W3) is held in the fall, usually September. We meet in Killeen, Texas.  Membership entitles you to attend.  Workshops are held Friday night and during the day on Saturday.  We have a banquet Saturday evening, followed by a short business meeting and lively auction.  Workshops are taught by SAM members and are designed for a variety of skill levels and budgets.  There are Round Robins (mini workshops) and sales tables on Sunday.
   

•  We encourage members to interest the youth of their area by starting children's miniature clubs. We offer funds to help with starting a children's group.
